ReplyDeleteFirst heard the Hensel-Mendelssohn at a concert a few months back. Interesting that it has a slow-fast-slow-fast pattern maybe more baroque than classical. Maybe shadowing JSB, as her brother did?
(FWIW, I was told by one of the musicians at the concert that Fanny had helped her brother with "editing" his fourth symphony, Given her obvious abilities, one wonders if "editing" may have bordered on joint composition).
